Pricing on your terms

You can use our public packages to convert your existing documentation to Mintlify. We currently support automated migration for Readme and Docusaurus. If you don't see your docs provider or have a home grown system, please get in touch at gtm@mintlify.com and we can help!

We use third-party model providers to power our AI features. To respond to a query, we perform semantic and full-text searches across your documentation to build context for the model. None of the providers we use will train on your data.

AI features are billed in credits, and every action has a flat price. An Assistant answer is 25 credits and an automation run that updates your docs is 250 credits. If the Assistant can't answer or an automation finds nothing to update, you pay nothing. The writing agent, in the editor and in Slack, is included with Pro and Enterprise at no charge. Each plan includes a set amount of credits per month, overages are billed at $0.01/credit, and tiered credit packs are available at discounted rates if you need more. You can set a hard spending limit or turn off overages entirely from your dashboard. For exactly what counts as an answer or an update, see the credits documentation.

Every new account gets Mintlify Pro free for 14 days, with no credit card required. That includes the AI assistant, the writing agent, analytics, preview deployments, and 5,000 credits for AI features. The trial ends after 14 days or when the 5,000 credits run out, whichever comes first. Then you can upgrade to Pro or keep your docs live on the free Starter plan.

Yes. The Starter plan is free forever and includes hosting, a custom domain, the web editor, authentication, an MCP server, the API playground, and up to 5 editor seats. Mintlify hosts your site, so it goes live at a mintlify.site address with no servers to run. AI features are part of Pro, and you can try them during the 14-day Pro trial.

Yes, if you qualify. Non-commercial open source projects get Pro free forever through the OSS Program. They need a recognized open source license, can't be venture-backed or revenue-funded, and can't be owned or primarily maintained by a for-profit company. Venture-backed startups founded in the past 2 years that have raised less than $2M and never paid for Mintlify get 50% off Pro for 12 months through the Startup Program, as do YC alumni. The current YC batch gets 12 months free. Both programs require an application.

In a Git repository. Each page is a Markdown file (.mdx or .md) and your site settings live in docs.json, so you can edit locally and keep the full history in Git. Connect your own GitHub repository during onboarding, or move your docs to your own GitHub or GitLab repository later from Git settings. Git sync is included on every plan, including Starter.

Yes, we've built in controls on the dashboard that allow you to either turn off overages and pause AI features when you reach your plan quota, or stay enrolled in overages and continue using them with spending controls. If your limit is reached and you have disabled overages, AI features automatically turn off until your next billing cycle. You can also set up email notifications when approaching your spending thresholds.

We offer multiple forms of authentication. You can use password protection, JWT, OAuth, or Mintlify auth (our internal users authentication solution) to authenticate your users. You can make specific pages viewable without authentication at the page or group level with the public property.

The Starter plan includes up to 5 editor seats. Pro and Enterprise include unlimited editor seats, so you can add everyone who writes or reviews docs without paying per person.

Not on Starter. AI features are part of Pro and Enterprise. Every new account can try them during the 14-day Pro trial, which includes 5,000 credits.

Yes we are SOC 2 Type 2 certified and GDPR compliant. We are currently in the process of being ISO 27001 compliant. You can also find the full report alongside other security policies on our trust center here.
